The UK needs to do more to strengthen clean energy supply chains to keep its climate change goals on track, according to a report.
The Institute for Public Policy Research think tank has urged the Government to pursue a policy of ‘securonomics’ as supply chains come under increasing pressure from the recent rise in trade wars and armed conflicts.
“These disruptions push up costs, hurting UK households and businesses,” the report warned.
“A broad industrial and international policy toolkit needs to be deployed to ensure that productive capacity is more geographically spread out, including in the UK where it is possible,” it said.
